Complication of Edentulous on the Face part 2
Complication of Edentulous on the Face
In the previous section we have mentioned the consequences of dentistry on facial components. In this section, we examine the other consequences that occur on soft tissue. In patients who lose their teeth, especially those who lose the maxillary anterior teeth, the vermilion lip (lip line) becomes thinner. This is due to a lack of support for the prosthesis and a decrease in the ability of the muscles around the lip and nose. This condition is exacerbated by the destruction of the remaining bone in the premaxilla area and the decrease in stiffness of the facial muscles and muscles that cause smile and facial emotion, creating a backward position in the patient.
Peripheral and facial muscles and buttock muscles contractions in patients with moderate to severe bone resorption move the inward and backward muscles. As a result, the cheeks are reversed and a narrow slit is created. Their chin becomes like witches. Increased vertical lines of face and lips result in reduced size of the boxer and master muscles (rodent muscles). Women usually use two methods to hide this ugly face.
A. These women either do not use lipstick at all or use very little make-up and thus get less attention.
B. Apply lipstick on the skin above the vermilion line to make the lips appear larger and bulkier, as well as deepening the nasal-labial groove and increasing the depth of other vertical lines around the nose and around the nose. Changes become more frequent and with more bone destruction these changes accelerate. The best treatment for these people is implants.
