Sometimes a young people lose his/her teeth because of an accident. The first question here is “What is the appropriate age for dental implant treatment?” And the answer is “it is recommended to wait until 18 when the final growth of bone and teeth is completed”. After this period it is allowed to have dental implant so that implant will not seem to be shorter than the other teeth.

Dental implant in young people before the age of eighteen may results to some problems such as a row of implant prostheses will cause a pressure and prevent skeletal growth.

Of course it is possible for young people to have dental implants but the prosthesis should be changes after a while so that the harmony of dental implant with other teeth is kept.

So, it is recommended to have dental implant treatment after 18 to prevent such problems.

Scientific Principles in the Design of Dental Implants in Relation to Types of Force and Its Application to the Patient (1)

The task of dental implants is to transfer forces to surrounding biological tissues, such as bones and gums. The guidance and control of biomechanics is dependent on two factors:
1 - Characteristic of the force input
2 - Functional level (functional) where the force is propagated.
This control and guidance of the forces are directly related to the principles of designing the initial function of the implants and the degree of modulation of the implant-dependent prosthesis. Accordingly, the performance of the forces and their characteristics and the bone-implantation-implant surface where the force is distributed is more than 90 Implant design available. The biomechanical basis of different implant designs is evaluated based on their ability to control biomechanical forces. The fundamental principles of force (F) and level (S) are combined

Effects of non-use dental implant method for lost teeth

In the case of lost tooth; the gum rolls back and surrounding bone depletes so a severe damage will occur for adjacent teeth and will lead to tooth decay. Some of the other problems for ignoring dental implant treatments include problems while talking or eating, dislocation of teeth, headache and so on. Another negative result of not having dental implant is jaw bone defects and damages.

What are dental implant types and their functions?

Dental implants are divided into 5 groups based on their functions as follows: Intramucosal Inserts: Button implants are inserted on removable dentures surface and on the side, they are inserted within the oral mucosa. Then, by inserting the denture in its place; they play the role of stabilizing it on patient’s jaw. These implants have been used for fixing complete dentures in upper jaw but using them is not common these days.

Benefits of Denture Implant-based Prostheses (Part II)

Benefits of Denture Implant-based Prostheses (Part II) Another issue is the presence of forces. With a removable prosthesis, horizontal forces on the denture result in rapid bone resorption, reduced prosthetic stability, and increased soft tissue erosion (gum wounding). Therefore, by controlling these forces, the prosthesis relies on the dental implant, the path of the alpha (chewable) It is controlled and implant implants perform well. Also, the reduction of horizontal forces in the implant protects the hard and soft tissue from the bottom.
